Late Justice
Two murders. Decades apart. One investigator unwilling to let them disappear.
A six year independent investigation into the unsolved murders of Gary Osborne and Heidi Seeman: one case unresolved for thirty six years, the other for seventeen.
Led by a detective of more than thirty years and brought to the screen by two filmmakers, the film follows newly uncovered evidence, witness accounts examined again, and connections that were overlooked the first time. It names new persons of interest and traces patterns that suggest something larger than either case alone.
As the investigation moved forward, the evidence began to point beyond the original crime scenes, raising serious questions that call for renewed scrutiny.
“Where evidence ends, intuition begins.”
The Story
Six years. One refusal to let go.
Late Justice begins with a personal return. After years away, private investigator Zeke Flatten comes home and turns back to the unresolved death of a high school friend, a case that never yielded answers and slipped into the margins of official record. What begins as a private effort to make sense of a loss becomes the opening move in a six year inquiry that will reach further than he expects.
The film introduces two unsolved murders, separated by decades and circumstance. One is the killing of his friend, Gary Osborne, a case that stalled without resolution. The other is the murder of twelve year old Heidi Seeman, a crime that seared itself into local memory and reshaped how families lived long after the headlines faded.
Access to case files, conversations with family members, and newly surfaced material reopen lines of inquiry that had gone cold. As the investigator traces what was done, and what was left undone, new questions take hold. Details once treated as incidental begin to matter. Accounts that were never fully examined are revisited. What emerges is not a single revelation, but a widening field of inquiry shaped by years of independent research.
Late Justice follows the path of this investigation: witnesses recontacted after years of silence, records revisited with fresh scrutiny, and leads pursued beyond the reach of official momentum. As overlooked details surface, patterns begin to suggest connections that had never been formally pursued, raising questions about how these cases were originally understood, and why certain avenues were never fully followed.
Despite the accumulation of new information, answers remain elusive. What is at stake is not only the fate of two cases, but whether time itself can wear away the urgency of justice.
Late Justice ends with an open question about time and accountability: how long can unanswered deaths remain in limbo, even as new information emerges, before delay itself becomes part of the story?
Omar’s Role
Called in along the way
Omar Kahn was called in during the investigation. His perspective and foresight brought clarity to pieces of the case that had remained unclear, and gave direction as the inquiry moved forward. The investigation itself belongs to a detective of more than thirty years and the two filmmakers who brought it to the screen.
